400,000 doses of the Russian anti-coronavirus vaccine Sputnik V arrived in Bolivia on May 15, La Razon newspaper reports.

The shipment was delivered by the state airline Boliviana de Aviación to the airport in the city of Cochabamba.

Bolivian President Luis Arce called for accelerating the vaccination process.

We must speed up and this vaccine that has arrived in the country is exactly the doses of hope for the many people who are now hoping to protect themselves from the pandemic,” the head of state said at an event to mark the arrival of coronavirus vaccine.

We need to accelerate vaccination to utilize the entire batch and we need to follow biosecurity measures because the pandemic has not yet passed,” Arce added.

Bolivia is one of the countries advocating the elimination of patents on coronavirus vaccines in order to be able to organize vaccine production in the country.
