DPR ombudswoman: Ukrainian military deliberately killing DPR civilians

15.04.2021, Donetsk.

The Ukrainian military is deliberately killing civilians in Donbass in order to escalate the conflict to achieve political goals of the Ukrainian leadership, the ombudswoman of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) Darya Morozova told journalists on 15 April.

On the evening of 14 April, the Joint Centre for Ceasefire Control and Coordination informed that a civilian had died as a result of the shelling of the outskirts of Donetsk by the Ukrainian army.

Morozova said that the shelling continued for several hours, with the Ukrainian side “ignoring all requests to observe the ceasefire.” The DPR ombudswoman continues that Kiev’s behaviour “should be regarded as evidence of Ukraine’s deliberate actions to escalate the conflict in Donbass.”

“The Ukrainian military is deliberately killing DPR civilians to achieve the political goals of its leadership… and to escalate the conflict,” Morozova said.

Rossa Primavera News Agency earlier today informed that the DPR reconnaissance had established that the Ukrainian army was preparing sabotage-recon groups for performing diversions on the territory of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics.

Since 27 July 2020, the permanent ceasefire was established in Donbass. The placement of heavy weaponry in and in close proximity to villages and towns is prohibited. However, Ukraine has recently violated the ceasefire, shelling has intensified, with civilians and servicemen of the DPR and LPR being killed. Also from the Ukrainian side, heavy weaponry is being brought to the line of contact.
