Mayor of Donetsk: Ukrainian army opens fire on a village on the city outskirts

The Ukrainian military shelled Aleksandrovka village, Donetsk Mayor Aleksey Kulemzin wrote on his Telegram channel on April 12.

“At 12.05 a.m., the Ukrainian army opened fire on Aleksandrovka village using BMP-2 infantry fighting vehicle and recoilless anti-tank gun,” Kulemzin informed. He noted that no one was injured as a result of the shelling.

Earlier, the Ukrainian army stated that a Ukrainian soldier was killed on April 12.

Since the beginning of the year, the intensity of shelling in the Donbass has increased sharply. Several civilians were killed in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), including two children. Kiev accuses Moscow of provocations and militarization of the region.

On April 6, Vladimir Zelensky said that Ukraine could end the war in Donbass only by joining NATO. Kiev is awaiting a NATO Membership Action Plan to join the alliance – its adoption will mark the first official stage of inclusion into the organization.
