Military expert: A 90-thousand military force is ready to attack Donbass

24.03.2021, Moscow.

A 90-thousand Ukrainian military force can invade Donbass any moment, Editor of the Arsenal Otechestva (Armory of the Motherland) journal Aleksey Leonkov said on March 24, the Rossa Primavera News Agency reports.

“You see, the pattern is getting together. What remains to be seen is whether it will be an order from the Washington bosses or a provocation at the contact line as a casus belli for this huge force deployed there, which is estimated as 60 to 90 thousand, to start moving,” he said.

Importantly, this is not the same Ukrainian army as the one defeated in the Ilovaysk and Debaltsevo encirclements. Since that time, the units of the Ukrainian army uninvolved in combat operations were trained in centers like the Yavorovsky Training Area, and then they moved to the contact line, and the West paid very well for this, the expert explained.

According to information leaks, the training of four brigades cost $356 million annually, and the US approved another $150 million tranche, which is only the official aid.

Ukraine is known to experience lack of ammunitions, but there are still ammunition plants in the Western European countries. According Leonkov, today these plants are working to supply the Ukrainian army with the necessary number of shells for an offensive operation.

“In addition, they have a 383 Special Drone Regiment with six Bayraktar drones as of early 2020, and now they probably have 12 or 18, and another Bayraktar was provided by Turkey. So they are building their drone force. The Ukrainian air force is unlikely to participate in combat operations. But they will use the drones, against which the anti-aircraft equipment that the defenders of Donbass have will probably be ineffective,” Leonkov said.
