EU has broken relations with Russia — Lavrov

23.03.2021, Beijing.

The EU authorities have ruined all mechanisms of relations with Russia developed over many years, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov said on March 23 after talks with his Chinese colleague Wang Yi.

According to the minister, now Russia has only “individual European partners” in Europe, which pursue their own national interests. This situation results in a faster development of relations between Russia and China.

“I would like to stress again that we have no relations with the EU as an organization. All the infrastructure of these relations has been ruined by Brussels’ unilateral decisions,” Lavrov said.

He stressed that Moscow is ready to resume these relations if Brussels wants it. This can only become possible based on equality and balance of the sides’ interests. However, “all quiet on the Western front” so far, the minister concluded.
