Ukrainian military opens fire on peaceful villages in DPR

This morning, the Ukrainian military’s shelling has left several residential buildings damaged and a power line broken in the village of Staromikhaylovka, located on the front line in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), reported a Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) representative at the Joint Center for Control and Coordination on March 8.

At 8.05 a.m. (Moscow time zone), the Ukrainian military opened fired on the Staromikhaylovka village from their positions in Krasnogorovka village occupied by the Ukrainian military, said the representative. The Ukrainian army fired 10 rounds from BMP-2 main guns, 15 grenades from the 30 mm AGS-17 automatic grenade launcher, 5 grenades from the 73 mm SPG-9 anti-tank grenade launcher, the small arms was also used.

The Ukrainian military fired specifically on residential areas and hit six houses on Chkalov Street for a reason, noted the observers. Ammunition fired by the Ukrainian army went through the roof, knocked out windows, cut through the walls and facades with shrapnel, and cut off the power line.

At 8.58 a.m. (Moscow time zone), there were no reports about the dead and the wounded, stressed the representative. The Joint Center’s staff went to the site to collect the information.

On March 7, the Ukrainian military violated the ceasefire four times when it fired at the villages of Mineralnoye, Donetsk, Leninskoye and Kashtanovoye. The military fired a total of 29 rounds of various ammunition, including 120mm mines, which were banned by the Minsk agreements.

The observers noted that the Ukrainian army violated the ceasefire two more times on the morning of March 8: at about 3.05 a.m. (Moscow time zone), Leninskoye and Sakhanka villages came under fire. The Ukrainian army opened fire from 120mm mortars. The information regarding the damage is being clarified.
