The true goal of the West is not to fight terrorism in Syria, but to plunder the country’s national wealth, representatives of the Russian and Syrian interagency coordination headquarters wrote in a joint statement on March 4.
“All steps taken by Western countries have nothing to do with the war against terrorism in Syria, and their true goal is to plunder with impunity the national wealth of a sovereign member state of the United Nations,” the statement said.
It is noted that the US side is intentionally increasing its military presence in the hydrocarbon-rich northeastern Syria in an attempt to divide the country.
“This, in particular, confirms the statement of former US President Donald Trump, in fact, who named oil as the main reason for the US military contingent on the territory of Syria,” the document reads.
The statement also reads that the international coalition is supplying weapons and ammunition to illegal armed groups, financing them and training of militants.
In addition, the West is taking measures of economic suppression of the country. Representatives of the interagency coordination headquarters called on the world community to pay special attention to the destabilizing activities of Western countries in Syria and the entire Middle East region.
