Kurginyan: Propagandist rhetoric forms a new reality

04.03.2021, Moscow.

Propaganda and minor factors can play a bigger role in a major war than it might seem, political scientist and the leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan stressed on February 28 on the Sunday Evening with Vladimir Solovyov program on the Russia One channel.

The political scientist reminded that significant minor issues are what makes everything in major processes. As an example he referred to US missile strikes against Syria. Kurginyan explained that, although only one aircraft fired a few missiles, “they did it in a way that is sufficient to launch a destructive global process. Because if we begin to react in the same manner, it will be more important than the number of missiles fired.”

In this regard, the political scientist discussed the propaganda issue. He said that the question about who should be listened to, propagandists or serious people, is not indicative, because “in the Western system everyone says what he is told to say, so there is no discrimination that propagandists say one thing and serious people say another.”

At the same time, Kurginyan does not propose that we should believe propagandists. “Of course, there is no agreement between propagandist rhetoric and reality. The point is the propagandist rhetoric is what makes reality. Information war entails economic and political war. Economic and political war entails conventional war. This is how this cycle works,” the political scientist assessed the scope and role of non-conventional wars.

Previously, the Pentagon reported that US military attacked certain buildings in the province of Deir ez-Zor at the border between Syria and Iraq. According to the US, Iran-funded terrorist groups were in the buildings. The operation was performed by direct orders from US President Joe Biden. Victims have been reported.

The Syrian government condemned the attack and warned about consequences, “which will exacerbate the situation in the region.” Damascus urged the UN Security Council to stop US aggression. Iran, Cuba, and Venezuela also condemned Washington’s policy.

Previously, the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that the US notified Russia about the attack only a few minutes before it took place. The minister added that this kind of notification “is useless.” Reportedly, however, the attack was previously discussed with the Iraqi government.
