A serviceman of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) was killed as a result of shelling by Ukrainian military, the press service of the DPR People’s Militia Department informed on February 26.

“We regret to inform you that a defender of our republic died as a result of enemy shelling. We express our sincere condolences to the relatives and friends of the deceased,” the press service said.

The Ukrainian army shelled Leninskoye village located on the DPR territory using mortars. In response to these actions, the DPR People’s Militia appealed to the acting OSCE Chairperson Ann Linde to visit the site of the shelling to impartially assess the situation. In addition, she was asked to demand that Kiev investigate Ukrainian commanders’ actions.

Since July 27, 2020, additional ceasefire control measures were introduced in Donbass, which were adopted by all participants in the contact group. In particular, they imply a ban on reconnaissance and sabotage activities, as well as shelling and the deployment of heavy weapons in villages and towns.
