Russian military begins building a military base in al-Tabanni village in western Deir ez-Zor province, a source in Syria informed on February 24.
The Russian military was on patrol in the al-Jawrah area downtown Deir Ezzor city. Russian troops also returned to their base in Ain Issa village in northern Raqqa, after it was evacuated last Sunday.
In their communique of the meeting of the foreign ministers of Astana Process in Sochi, the Russian Federation, Turkey, Iran and the UN outlined that the parties oppose the separatist plans in northern Syria aimed at undermining the unity of Syria and threatening the national security of neighboring countries. The sides noted that they do not accept the illegal seizure and transfer of oil revenues.
