Ukrainian Prime Minister announces plans to hold joint exercises with NATO

The joint tabletop exercise Coherent Resilience with NATO forces will be held in Odessa in 2021, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmygal said at the joint press point at the NATO headquarters on February 9.

Shmygal said that within the framework of widening the practical cooperation with NATO, joint tabletop exercises will be held in Odessa. He also noted that Ukraine is fulfilling all the requirements for joining NATO.

In particular, the politician said, the Ukrainian parliament has already adopted laws allowing it to meet the NATO standards. In addition, Ukraine regularly participates in international exercises held by NATO.

In the foreseeable future, Ukraine wants to get a membership action plan. “We want to catch up with Georgia,” the Ukrainian prime minister said.

During talks with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, many topics were discussed, including combating the new coronavirus, participation in peacekeeping operations, and ensuring cyber security, Shmygal said.
