Ukrainian military shells DPR territory five times

The Ukrainian military violated the ceasefire on the contact line in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) five times over the past 24 hours, a DPR representative at the Joint Centre for Ceasefire Control and Coordination (JCCCC) informed on 5 February.

The representative said that the JCCCC observers reported that the Ukrainian armed forces opened time on Leninskoye, Novovyboyevo and Gagarin Mine villages near Gorlovka 5 times on February 4. The military fired 50 rounds of different ammunition on the territory of the republic.

The Ukrainian military from the 36th Marine Brigade stationed in Vodyanoye village were the first to begin shelling at 6.38 a.m. (Moscow time zone). They fired 4 grenades from a GP-25 under-barrel grenade launcher in the direction of Leninskoye village. At 11.15 a.m. (Moscow time zone), Ukrainian soldiers repeated their shelling of Leninskoye, but fired from 8 120mm mortar shells.

At 1.25 p.m. (Moscow time zone), soldiers of the 36th Ukrainian Marine Brigade fired 7 120mm mortar shells on Gagarin Mine village near Gorlovka from their positions near the Yuzhnaya mine in Dzerzhinsk. At 2.05 p.m. (Moscow time zone), the military again opened fire firing 8 120mm mortar shells and 20 grenades from an AGS-17 automatic grenade launcher.

At 5.57 p.m. (Moscow time zone), the observers reported the beginning of shelling from the direction of the village of Gnutovo, where units of the 36th Brigade are stationed. The Ukrainian military fired 3grenade on Novovyboyevo village from a SPG-9 rocket-propelled grenade launchers.

The representative reported that the Ukrainian military did not hit the infrastructure of the settlements and residential houses of the residents. There were no casualties.

The JCCC observers reported that the Ukrainian side violated the ceasefire three times on February 3. The Ukrainian armed forces shelled Leninskoye, Sakhanka and Novaya Tavria.
