The Democrats have undermined confidence in themselves and the media that broadcast their point of view in an effort to defeat the incumbent US President Donald Trump by any means, said the Chairman of the Federation Council Commission on Information Policy Aleksey Pushkov on January 15 on his Telegram channel.
Earlier, while referring to the results of a sociological survey, the US edition of the Business Insider pointed out that more than a half of the participants in the study which interviewed 33 thousand people believe that the country’s leadership and members of the press are deliberately misleading the public.
“Trust in the authorities and the media in the US is at an all-time low. Having thrown all resources into the fight against Trump by any means necessary, the Democrats did not take into account that they are undermining the very foundations of the authority as such and they themselves will inevitably suffer from this, ” emphasized the Russian senator.
“The same goes about the liberal media, which have lost much of their credibility in the eyes of US citizens and transformed into an instrument for the fierce struggle against Trump. From now on, these media are not trustworthy not only in Russia, but also in the US itself, ” added he.
It should be noted that the US media resources close to the Democratic Party took fiercely anti-Trump positions from the very moment when the businessman announced his desire to be elected as the country’s president. One of the most notable aspects of this opposition was the so-called Christopher Steele dossier which became widespread through the well-known liberal BuzzFeed News portal.
In this dossier, former British intelligence officer Steele told about Trump’s entertainment with prostitutes allegedly taking place in one of Moscow’s hotels. Subsequently, it turned out that the Democrats had a hand in creating this sensational dossier. In 2017, it became known that it was paid for by the Democratic National Committee and the Hilary Clinton campaign headquarters.
