Political scientist: Attack on the Capitol prevents Trump from challenging election results

09.01.2021, Moscow.

Those who are familiar with the appropriate technologies could have pushed the pro-Trump rally to the storming of the Capitol to deprive Trump of his last chance to challenge the obvious falsifications, political scientist, doctor of political science and professor at Lomonosov Moscow State University Sergey Chernyakhovsky said to Rossa Primavera News Agency on January 8.

“The rally [for Trump] was deliberately pushed to the direct action [storming the Capitol] by those who are familiar with the relevant technologies to deprive Trump of his last chance to challenge the obvious falsifications,” Chernyakhovsky noted.

He pointed out that, on the one hand, it’s a very attractive picture when American voters rebel against obvious election fraud, especially since American law suggests the right of the people to rebel.

“But, on the other hand, judging by the consequences, <…> as a result, an attempt to present evidence challenging the election results, which was prepared by Trump supporters, failed,” the political scientist added.

On the night of January 7 (Moscow time zone) in the US capital supporters of incumbent President Donald Trump held a rally in support of their presidential candidate. An aggressive section of the demonstrators stormed the Capitol. A few hours later, however, they were escorted out of the building by law enforcement officers and army special forces. Four people died as a result of these events.
