Political scientist and leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan pointed out the difficulties of building the Russian nation on the Evening with Vladimir Solovyov TV program on the Russia One TV channel on December 10.
Kurginyan said that he entirely supports Russia’s fight for its interests as a nation state. The problem is that there are almost no nation states left in the modern world, countries form blocks, alliances or grow into empires. So, the question arises: is it possible to exist as an isolated nation state.
“It is all about an existence in the certain type of global system, in the framework of the global project whose name is modernization. The nation is the actor in modernization. This project was called ‘Modernity’ or ‘modernization’. It was based on the idea of linear progress and on a secular identity with very strong language and cultural norms. The French also talked about ‘Reverence for France’ or ‘sacred stones of France’, ‘ethos’ and so on,” explained Kurginyan.
The expert reminded that the classic bourgeois project necessarily assumes a strong family. But in the light of the latest global trends, the question arises: does any classic bourgeoisie exist now?
