Ukrainian army truck explodes on its own landmines

A GAZ-66 truck of the Ukrainian army’s 59th Brigade drove on a minefield laid by the Ukrainian military near Luganskoye villages and exploded, People’s Militia of the Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR) spokesman Yakov Osadchy said during a briefing on December 1.

The officer said that the LPR People’s Militia observers saw a GAZ-66 vehicle driving to the position of the 9th Battalion of the Ukrainian army’s 59th Brigade’s 59 drove on the minefield and exploded near Luganskoye village.

The representative said that within two hours, five more explosions had been registered at that location and emergency ambulance had arrived to pick up the wounded Ukrainian soldiers.

“According to preliminary information, the exploded truck contained 82 mm caliber mines, which once again underscores the fact that the occupants used the current truce to deliver ammunition and clearly demonstrates the readiness of the Ukrainian fighters to use them,” said Yakov Osadchy.

The officer pointed out that the Ukrainian military had requested the establishment the ceasefire to evacuate damaged equipment. The LPR representative at the Joint Centre for Ceasefire Control and Coordination registered the explosion occurred on the Ukrainian side.

On November 30, the Ukrainian troops of the 14th Brigade opened fire on the village of Novotoshkovskoye from the direction of Donetskiy village, fired 29 AGS-17 automatic grenades.
