Venezuela proposes to create an association in order to counter US sanctions

30.11.2020, Caracas.

Venezuela’s permanent representative to the United Nations Samuel Moncada proposed to create an international association in order to counter US illegal sanctions against 29 UN member states, the government’s press service reports on November 28.

The representative made the statement during an informal meeting of the UN Security Council, which had been convened by China, Russia, Niger, South Africa, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

Moncada condemned the US government for unilateral coercive measures and a mass violation of human rights all across the world.

He stressed that US sanctions ignore the international law, menace the peace and violate human rights in the countries, where one-third of the earth’s population lives.

“The US desire to impose its national legislation as a universal law by the means of economic coercion and threat of force poses an evident and constant danger to the system of international relations,” concluded the Venezuelan diplomat.
