Kurginyan: Why did the Turkish military betray Atatürk’s vision?

12.11.2020, Moscow.

The West finally decided to place its bets on the caliphate, built on the basis of a powerful state – Turkey, political scientist, leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan said on November 11 in his original broadcast “The Meaning of the Game”.

But to achieve this, Turkey had to first do away with Kemal Atatürk’s project – a secular, modernized, European, non-expansionist Turkey. The Turkish military continued Atatürk’s project very persistently and vigorously after his death, the political scientist explains.

Every time someone tried to violate the principles of Kemalist Turkey, he was either imprisoned or killed. And if such people won elections, the military rolled tanks onto the streets, reminds Kurginyan.

And now, when Recep Tayyip Erdoğan began to “hiss, jump up and shout about Neo-Ottomanism,” all those Turkish colonels suddenly “went limp and crawled into their holes,” the analyst stresses. This happened for two reasons, he adds.

First, their Western curators ordered the Turkish military to “crawl back”. Secondly, the Turkish military realized they wouldn’t be admitted to Europe, which means they have only two paths left: either to Islamism (where they have no place), or to the fascist-terrorist “Grey Wolves”, who shout not about the сaliphate but about a Great Turan, Kurginyan explains.

And since the Eurasian territories that can be claimed within a Pan-Turanist project are huge, it has proven very tempting to the military, the political scientist insists.
