Kurginyan: Pashinyan has repeated Strelkov's maneuver, surrendering Shusha and the whole Karabakh like a rat

12.11.2020, Moscow.

The town of Shusha cannot be conquered, it can only be surrendered, said the political scientist and leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan on November 11 in his original broadcast “The Meaning of the Game.”

And while it is still possible to argue about the theoretical possibility of military capturing Shusha, the Armenians’ retreat from Shusha by order on November 9 is an undeniable fact, the analyst stresses.

The particular treachery of that order is that it was given at the moment when for the first time Armenians saw a gleam of hope to win in this seemingly hopeless and unequal war, notes Kurginyan

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev concentrated a huge number of troops against Shusha (with a seven-eightfold superiority) – but at the same time he exposed other sectors of the front, the expert explains. The Armenia and Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) citizens not only managed to stop the blitzkrieg bu Azerbaijani forces, Turkish special forces, and Syrian terrorists, but they also dislodged them from Shusha.

Conquest of Shusha by Azerbaijan in no way implies the need to surrender the entire Karabakh and stop fighting back, the political scientist stresses, and under conditions of pulling all the Azerbaijani forces towards Shusha – all the more so.

Kurginyan recalls that such a treacherous retreat and surrender of territories in Karabakh is surprisingly similar to Igor Girkin’s (Strelkov) [one of the major leaders of DPR militia in summer 2014, who used his authority to withdraw troops and to surrender half of the DPR’s territory to the Ukrainian military without a fight – translator’s note] retreat from Slavyansk and his betrayal of Donbass.
