The Western countries are trying to undermine the integration process in the framework of the Union State, the Russian Minister of Defense Sergey Shoygu said on October 27 at the Joint Defense Ministry Board of the Russian Federation and Belarus.
The Russian Minister of Defense condemned the interference of the West in domestic affairs of Belarus and other states. He also noted that what happened in Belarus was not just a coup d’etat attempt. It was an attack against the Union State.
“Very recently, a coup d’etat attempt, with political and financial support from the West, took place in the Republic of Belarus. Its purpose was, in particular, to undermine the integration process in the framework of the Union State, and to sow discord within the Russian-Belarusian relations,” Shoygu said.
The policy of the USA and its allies is a gross violation of international law and the sovereignty of the states. The West deliberately escalates tension in the countries in order to destabilize the situation and strengthen its influence on their policy.
“The Republic of Belarus has always been our closest neighbor, our reliable ally, and our strategic partner. This is even more important in the context of the continued global instability,” Shoygu said.
