Civilians in Nngi village in Nagorno-Karabakh injured as a result of Smerch MLRS strike

27.10.2020, Stepanakert.

Azerbaijan continues to deliver rocket and artillery strikes against peaceful villages in Nagorno-Karabakh, the Karabakh Ombudsman’s Office informs, as Sputnik Armenia informed on October 27.

There was information that in the afternoon the Azerbaijan armed forces struck against Nngi village in Martuni district using Smerch multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS). As a result of the missile strike, three women were wounded, one house burned down completely and other infrastructure facilities were damaged.

It is noted that this village hosts a large number of civilians who temporarily relocated from other communities.

The Ombudsman notes that since there are no military facilities near this village, as well as the fact that a missile with a prohibited cluster munitions unit was used against a locality with a large number of civilian structures, “it is obvious that the Azerbaijani Armed Forces deliberately targeted civilians and facilities.”

He appealed to the international community and human rights organizations to take immediate steps to give an adequate appraisal and “to stop Azerbaijani atrocities against the people of Artsakh.”
