25.10.2020, Moscow.

President of Turkey Reçep Tayyip Erdogan will not give up S-400 under the US pressure said Russian senator Alexey Pushkov on October 25 on his Twitter account.

According to the senator, by testing the previously purchased from Russia S-400 air defense systems Turkish leader Reçep Erdogan once again proves Turkey’s new principled role.

This is the Turkey’s independence and strength testimony. Turkey claims to be a regional superpower. But he will not give up his position on Karabakh, nor will he give up military support to Baku, for the same reasons,” Pushkov explained.

On October 23 the President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan confirmed that his country tested S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems and stated his intention to continue tests regardless of the opinion of the USA on this issue.

Washington, in turn, “strongly condemned” S-400 air defense systems tests and stated that Turkey thereby violates NATO agreements.

On September 29, 2 days after the beginning of the aggravation of the military and political situation in Nagorno-Karabakh, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Çavuşoğlu declared his readiness to support Azerbaijan not only diplomatically but also on the battlefield.

And on October 22 Turkish vice-president Fuat Oktay stated in an interview with CNN Turk that Turkey is ready to send its troops to Azerbaijan to support Baku in Nagorno-Karabakh.
