Pride, commerce, inhumanity: Kurginyan names the sins of Western medicine

21.10.2020, Moscow.

“The vaccination challenge exposes the negative features of the global bourgeois healthcare system. Negative feature No. 1 is the disappearance of the ban on dehumanization. Negative feature No. 2, which goes hand in hand with negative feature No. 1, is the stubborn arrogance of specialists,” explained Kurginyan. Negative feature No. 3 for the contemporary health care system is its “monstrous” dependence on its commercial basis, the main part of which is the pharmaceutical industry.

The Essence of Time movement leader is convinced that the current life shows more and more new examples of infringement on the sanctity of Homo sapiens. “At one moment, chips are implanted into pigs, at another the genome is edited. At the same time, even those who have a negative attitude towards this sigh, ‘What can we do? We have to live in this horror, because it is the global trend’,” he added.

At the same time, a huge number of people involved in health care have mastered certain knowledge, which, by definition, is always outdated to a considerable degree in such way of mastering knowledge, the political scientist explained. But people who have mastered this knowledge, turn this beneficial mastery into a way to assert themselves.

“A scientist always wants to become a priest. And the pettier and the more narrow-minded he is, and finally the more insecure he is, the sooner he wants to become not just a priest, but a high priest, an unquestioned priest, a priest of priests. Science battled with the church toitself become a defective church,” Sergey Kurginyan said.

The expert summarized that if the highest guideline is not the elevation of Man, but the achievement of maximum profit, then an “absolute hell” will be eventually built on earth. And health care will be an essential part of it, not because it is itself defective, but because it will fit into this generalized commercialization, firmly anchored in the general dehumanization carried out in the name of this commercialization.

The political scientist believes that the dehumanization was initiated by Western science, which treated Man not as an actor with his own agency, a person of divine nature, but as an object. According to him, this is unacceptable for Russian culture with its holistic idea, which was not lost during the nominally atheistic Soviet period. The unwillingness to give up what has been left of morality is one of the main features of modern Russia, but this is valuable only in so far as this gives a chance for development, Kurginyan notes.
