Expert: There is an anti-Chinese bipartisan consensus in the USA

19.10.2020, Moscow.

There is a bipartisan consensus on the policy of containment toward China, expert of the Centre for Analysis of Strategies and Technologies, leading researcher of Institute of Far Eastern Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences Vasiliy Kashin said on October 19 on the “Vesti FM” radio broadcast.

Kashin emphasized that Democrats and Republicans have different views on relations with China only in the field of tactics. “From China’s standpoint, Biden’s victory brings both advantages and disadvantage. Since Biden is more integrated in the US transnational business than Trump. Beijing and Biden may find common ground through international companies, at least there will be a channel for dialogue,” the expert said.

He added that on the other hand, Biden, more precisely the team organized around him, has a better chance to create a united anti-Chinese front in alliance with Europe, Trump has much less chance of such a thing.

On October 7, 2020, former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger said that the USA and China should set the rules of interaction, because otherwise their rivalry, increasingly escalating, could lead to a situation similar to that on the eve of World War I.

Kissinger admitted that the reason for the rapprochement between China and the United States under President Richard Nixon was to create a balance against the Soviet Union.
