Kurginyan exposes deception of European politicians lecturing Russia

16.10.2020, Moscow.

Europe today is a Europe of postmodernism as it rejects values, the defense of which it can use as an excuse to lecture other states, political scientist and the leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan said on October 13 on the Evening with Vladimir Solovyov TV program on the Russia One channel.

Previously, the Foreign Minister of the German Federal Republic Heiko Maas, referring to Europe’s commitment to its values, the rule of law and human rights in particular, said that Russia can revive its trust-based relations with the European countries by observing these rules.

The political scientist believes that postmodernism has destroyed traditional Western values.

“Where is that Europe of traditional values? What values are they talking about? This is a Europe of postmodernism, for which no values exist at all. Postmodernism claims that no values exist. What is he saying about values? What values? What does he mean?” the expert said.

The talk show host Vladimir Solovyov reminded that a while ago Europe was the place where such “values” as racism, colonialism, and Nazism appeared.

Sergey Kurginyan added, “Will gender change five times a day? We live in a world where a man wakes up in the morning thinking that he is a man, at lunch he believes that he is a woman, and a second later he thinks that he is a man again. Isthisaworldoftraditionalvalues?”

Also, Kurginyan stressed, Europe is no longer that world of culture where Balzac, Dickens, and Thomas Mann existed. Europe is not a world of the bourgeois values any more, about which Friedrich Engels said, “Family, private property, state as the foundation of everything.”

“Where is that private property? Where is that family, where is that state in the time when everyone is talking about the collapse of the Westphalian system? What sovereignty are they talking about? Who of them is sovereign?” the political scientist concluded.

On October 13, the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that Russia should stop considering the European Union to be a benchmark, against which Russia judge itself. Furthermore, based on recent statements by top officials, Lavrov said that Russia should stop communicating with Europe for a while.
