Ukrainian army celebrates “the day of Ukraine’s defender” by violating ceasefire on the front line in the DPR

The Ukrainian military violated the ceasefire four times over the past day on the contact line in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), a DPR representative at the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of Ceasefire (JCCCC) stated on October 15.

The spokesman stated that the Ukrainian military shelled the villages of Yakovlevka, Leninskoye, Kashtanovoye and the area of Volvo Center in Donetsk on October 14. The 82-mm mortar, an SPG-9 recoilless anti-tank gun and small arms were used.

The observers registered that at 09.06 am (Moscow time zone) the military of the 56th Ukrainian army’s Brigade opened fire on the area of Volvo Center, the fire came from the direction of Peski village. At 11.35 am (Moscow time zone), the military of the 54th Brigade fired an SPG-9 grenade on Yakovlevka; the fire came from the Avdeevka direction.

At 9.30 pm (Moscow time zone), the military of the 36th Navy Brigade opened fire on Leninskoye village from their positions in the settlement of Vodyanoye. 9 82mm mortar shells were fire on Kashtanovoye village.

The observers registered that the Ukrainian troops used explosives during the construction of new fortifications on the contact line of contact, two explosions at 11.20 am (Moscow time zone) and another one at 4.35 am (Moscow time zone) on their positions near Avdeevka.

At 2.40 pm (Moscow time zone) near Novomarievka and at 3.45 pm (Moscow time zone) near Marinka village the Ukrainian military used multicopter to conduct aerial recon of the area and control camouflaged equipment on their positions.

On October 14, the Ukrainian army celebrated “the day of Defender of Ukraine”; nationalists marched in Kiev. Activists of Svoboda nationalist party, National Corps (organization banned in Russia) and Right sector (organization banned in Russia) participated in the march; Belarusian nationalists also took part in the event under white-red-white flag.

The Ukrainian authorities did not cancel or detain the organizers, despite the current quarantine restrictions in Kiev

The nationalists demanded the opposition media in Ukraine to be banned and the Ukrainian Prosecutor General and president Vladimir Zelensky to resign. The action ended with the installation of an anti-Semitic poster in front of the Ukrainian president’s office.
