Ukrainian army fires anti-tank missiles on Donetsk

Ukrainian army’s units violated the ceasefire once over the past day on the contact line in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), a DPR representative at the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of Ceasefire (JCCCC) informed on October 12.

The spokesman said that the JCCCC observers registered on October 11 the hit of a new terminal at the former Donetsk airport, the fire came from the positions of the 37th Battalion of the 56th Ukrainian army’s Brigade, which is located in Opytnoye village. The Ukrainian military launched three anti-tank missiles.

The statement reads that there were no casualties among the DPR People’s Militia servicemen or residents of the republic, no destruction of residential buildings or infrastructure was registered.

The Ukrainian military had been observing the ceasefire since October 8 when the military of 56th Brigade fired on the new terminal of the former Donetsk airport. That day, a delegation of Lithuanian diplomats headed by Ambassador Valdemas Sarapinas arrived at the Ukrainian troops’ positions.

OSCE observers also registered the sheltering of the Ukrainian armored vehicles near the contact line on the DPR territory occupied by the Ukrainian army. The military of the 35th Navy Brigade concealed 13 infantry fighting vehicles and 1 MT-LB multi-purpose fully amphibious auxiliary armored tracked vehicle in Zaitsevo village and Strela-10 and ZU-23 anti-aircraft missile systems in Nikolaevka.

Two armored combat vehicles of the 79th Airborne Troops Brigade of the Ukrainian army were camouflaged near the settlement of Slavnoye. The JCCCC observers registered 20 tanks near Zatishnoye settlement, where units of the 53rd Ukrainian army’s Brigade are stationed.
