Source confirms that 93 Syrian mercenaries were killed in Nagorno-Karabakh

The Syrian opposition representatives confirmed that 93 mercenaries from Syria were killed in Nagorno-Karabakh region, reports RIA Novosti on October 5 citing the Syrian opposition sources.

“The bodies of 53 mercenaries were transported to Syria on Sunday eve … Thus, the total number of killed Syrian mercenaries is 93 people,” explained the agency’s representative.

According to the source, the third batch of militants from Syria left for the Karabakh conflict zone last weekend.

“430 people were sent,” confirmed the source.

According to another source, as of October 1, 322 “well-equipped” mercenaries from Syria are operating in Nagorno-Karabakh.

Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron pointed out that 300 Syrian mercenaries moved through the Turkish city of Gaziantep to Baku. According to Macron, they are from a group that operates in the Aleppo area.

Ilham Aliyev, president of Azerbaijan, assured the world that Azerbaijan does not use mercenaries in Nagorno-Karabakh and demanded an apology from France after Macron’s statements.

On September 27, the latest outbreak of military and political fighting over disputed Nagorno-Karabakh region resumed between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Yerevan accused Baku of aggression. Later, Ilham Aliyev, president of Azerbaijan, stated that the county’s air force is conducting a military offensive in a response to the actions of the “aggressor”.
