Ukrainian army shells villages of Donetsk People’s Republic twice over 24 hours

The Ukrainian army violated the ceasefire twice over the past 24 hours at the contact line with the Donetsk People’s Republic, according to the DPR representative at the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of Ceasefire.

According to the representative, the observers reported that the enemy opened fire on the villages of Luganskoye and Aleksandrovka on September 24. The Ukrainian military used semiautomatic and unaimed fire with small arms. No victims were reported.

At 2:50 pm (Moscow time zone) the observers reported three shots from the village of Novomikhailovka made by the servicemen of the 2nd battalion of the 79th Brigade of the Ukrainian army. At 9:16 pm (Moscow time zone) four shots were made from the positions of the 3rd battalion of the 79th Brigade of the Ukrainian army near the settlement of Maryinka.

The observers also reported a reconnaissance drone flight at 3:45 pm (Moscow time zone) near the village of Zhabunki, which was launched by the servicemen of the 23rd battalion of the 56th Brigade from the village of Peski. At 5:40 pm two servicemen from the 23rd battalion of the 56th Brigade were building a new fortification near the village of Peski.

The observers reported three violations of ceasefire by the Ukrainian military firing 35 munitions on September 23. A Ukrainian sniper wounded a serviceman of the DPR People’s Militia near the village of Dzerzhinskoye.

The ex-president of Ukraine Pyotr Poroshenko called the Ukrainian army to violate the ceasefire promising to compensate any fines for opening fire.

On September 11, the head of the Ukrainian President’s Office Andrey Yermak after a meeting of advisors to the Normandy Four leaders said that the Ukrainian military will continue to observe the ceasefire established after July 27.
