Kurginyan: Instead of gratitude, Ukraine sold Lukashenko down the river

16.09.2020, Moscow.

The Ukrainian authorities completely betrayed the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, said the political scientist and the leader of the Essence of time movement Sergey Kurginyan on September 15 on the air of the Evening with Vladimir Solovyov TV program on the Russia One channel.

“It is absolutely clear that Ukraine has completely betrayed Lukashenko. As it was sung in one song — ‘you sold me, daddy, for a German penny’. For an Austrian penny, for a goddamned penny, “ the political scientist said.

Kurginyan stressed that Ukraine “humiliatingly and criminally” betrayed a person who tried to behave respectably towards it all the time, which, from the point of view of the political scientist, it never deserved.

He also noted the ambiguous behavior by the expert Ukrainian community, which, instead of somehow realizing the fact of this betrayal, begins to evade it, finding various explanations and interpretations of Zelensky’s behavior. “It’s humiliating. Sooner or later, you have to tell the truth. It is too obvious, ” the political scientist said.

“This betrayal is obvious. It is vile, dirty, meaningless, and harmful to Ukraine. It is carried out in relation to a person who tried to negotiate — and this is the very symbol of ‘Minsk’ — ‘I listen to this side, I listen to that side’, Kurginyan said.

Kurginyan stressed that Lukashenko behaved with dignity towards the Ukrainian authorities. “But at least you could have said some word of thanks before you betrayed them like that,” the political scientist concluded.

Recall that on September 14, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky in an interview with the Austrian publication Wiener Zeitung said that he “unequivocally supports” the protesters in Belarus and noted that there might be a “Maidan” if Lukashenko refuses to enter into dialogue with the people. Zelensky also said that the main thing for him is that there should be no “bloodbath” in Belarus.

On September 15, the Verkhovna Rada (Ukrainian parliament) by a majority vote adopted a statement on non-recognition of the elections in Belarus, which in the wording of the deputies “were neither free nor fair” and do not reflect the “real will of Belarusian citizens”.
