"Forest unit" training to fight in cities is detained in Belarus

Belarusian Interior Ministry officers detained six members of the unit, who were training in the woods near Mogilev, Ministry spokesperson Olga Chemodanova told journalists on September 14.

Elements of an incendiary device were seized from the detainees.

“The Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime and Corruption of the Ministry of Internal Affairs stopped unlawful activity of the “forest” unit. The leader of this unit created the Partisans of Mogilev community in social networks, which included 64 users,” Chemodanova told.

“It was preliminary established that the unit members were gathering in an abandoned place in the forest near Mogilev. There they were training: practicing tactics of street fighting, capturing premises, assault mountaineering and fighting in the forest,” the Interior Ministry spokeswoman added.

The head of the press service also stressed that during the unit’s detention, the white-red-white flag used by the collaborators during the Great Patriotic War, the uniform with chevrons depicting the coat of arms “Pursuit” and Ukrainian symbols, balaclava masks, air guns, bulletproof vests, airsoft equipment, knives, signal rocket projector and radio communications setы were seized.

“Some of its participants assembled improvised incendiary devices and conducted their tests. The young men guys, including minors, posted their video reports on the Internet,” the press secretary emphasized.

In addition, Chemodanova said that criminal proceedings were initiated against the four most active unit’s participants aged 16 to 22 years.
