Russian Aerospace Forces attacked positions of the IS (organization banned in Russia) terrorists, a source of the Rossa Primavera News Agency in Syria reported on September 11.

“The Russian Aerospace Forces attacked positions of the IS (organization banned in Russia) near the village of Al-Rusafa and the village of Al-Mansoura in the south of the province of Raqqa,” the source reported.

In august 2020 a major operation against underground IS (organization banned in Russia) cells was carried out, which involved units of the Syrian army and the Russian Aerospace Forces.

During the operation 327 militants were destroyed along with shelters, observation posts, and underground storages. The operation was meant to be revenge for the murder of Russian Major General Vyacheslav Gladkikh in this area.
