Russia is prepared to launch its coronavirus vaccine in Latin America

Russia is preparing to launch its Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine in Latin American countries, stated Russian Foreign Ministry Press Service said on September 11 after a joint video conference with the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) and Gamaleya National Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology.

The conference discussed the possibility of using the Russian vaccine in Latin America and the Caribbean.

“<…> Latin America has become one of the epicenters of the coronavirus pandemic; Russian side confirms that it is prepared to work together with Latin American partners in combating COVID-19. This may includes setting up local production, and organizing necessary shipments of the Sputnik V vaccine,” said the Russian Foreign Ministry Press Service.

In addition, the ministry expressed its support of Russian medical scientists, as well as associated economic institution. The government will continue support the development and promotion of the drug. The video conference that was held on September 10 had 650 people from 26 countries in attendance. Among participants there were representatives of foreign policy departments and health authorities, as well as experts from the medical field and business.
