LPR reports 10 violations by Ukrainian units over week

The units of the Ukrainian army violated ten times the conditions of the additional measures for ceasefire control from August 31 to September 5 along the contact line in the Lugansk People’s Republic, the LPR representative to the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of Ceasefire (JCCC) said on September 5.

No incidents of shelling of the positions of the LPR People’s Militia by Ukrainian military have been reported over the period. The violations represented the building of new fortifications at the borders of the separation sectors.

“The presence (of Ukrainian military ― Rossa Primavera News Agency) at former Ukrainian armed groups (Ukrainian army ― Rossa Primavera News Agency) positions during evening and night in the areas of separation of forces and the construction of positions near the village of Schastye,” the report said.

The LPR continues the construction of two checkpoints “Lugansk – Schastye” and “Pervomaysk – Zolotoye.” The construction workers work every day in the presence observers from the JCCC and the special OSCE mission.

The engineers of the Lugansk People’s Republic army have cleared mines and munitions at 64 hectares of territory where hostilities took place, and reconstruction works are underway. They have found 27 dangerous items, which were destroyed in place.

At a session of the Trilateral Contact Group on July 23, 2020, Ukraine and the representatives of the Donetsk and the Lugansk People’s Republics signed additional measures for the control of ceasefire, which became effective on July 27.

According to the JCCC observers, the number fire exchange incidents at the contact line has decreased. The Ukrainian military use the ceasefire to build more fortifications advanced into the “grey zone.”
