State Duma member: Lithuania and Poland are rear bases for Belarusian opposition

25.08.2020, Moscow.

Lithuania and Poland have become rear bases for the Belarusian opposition seeking to overthrow Lukashenko, Member of State Duma Committee for Foreign Affairs Elena Panina said on August 25, Regnum reports.

“Berlin and Brussels are doing everything they can to prevent Lukashenko’s return to his previous relations with Russia. Warsaw and Vilnius have become rear bases for the opposition seeking to overthrow Lukashenko,” Panina said.

She also noted that the Western countries, on the one hand, are sending messages to the President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko that he can turn to Europe in his policy, while on the other hand they actively destabilize Belarus through Poland and Lithuania.

These steps, according to Panina, are consistent with the European policy of the last decades.

Previously, the President of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda urged the Belarus’ neighbor states to actively support the changes in the Republic even before the EU made its official decision on this issue.
