The flag of the Belarusian opposition has become recognizable outside Belarus, said an expert in political technology and electoral psychology, Elena Kozina. She expressed her point of view in a conversation with a Rossa Primavera News Agency’s correspondent on August 20.

“The white-red-white flag is now being known and identified as an emblem of the Belarusian revolution far beyond its borders,” said Kozina. The expert gave the example of St. Petersburg, where one can meet such flags.

The white-red-white flag has become a symbol of Belarus without Lukashenko, added the campaign manager. A many meter long color cloth carried during the opposition march in Minsk was especially vividly imprinted in the minds of media content consumers around the world.

In 1918, under German occupation, the Belarusian People’s Republic was proclaimed, the symbols of which were the coat of arms “Pursuit” and the white-red-white flag. In 1919-1920, the white-red-white flag was used by Belarusian military units in the Lithuanian army.

During the occupation of Belarus by German troops (1941-1944), the Reichskommissariat Ostland allowed to use the white-red-white flag together with the coat of arms ” Pursuit ” on the territory of the general district of Belarus.
