Kiev recalls ambassador from Minsk for consultations

17.08.2020, Kiev.

Ukrainian Ambassador Igor Kizim was summoned from Minsk to Kiev for consultations on the prospects of relations with Belarus, said Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba according to the press service of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry on August 17.

I have decided to summon Ambassador of Ukraine to Belarus Igor Kizim for consultations in Kiev to assess the prospects of Belarusian-Ukrainian relations in the new reality, and for the development of appropriate solutions taking into account the whole range of factors,” said Kuleba.

According to the Foreign Minister, the recall of the Ambassador from Minsk will not prevent the support of rights and legitimate interests of Ukrainian citizens in Belarus.

This is the first time in history we’ve resorted to such a step in relations with Belarus, and we do it only because of unacceptable Minsk actions,” said the Foreign Minister.

Igor Kizim was appointed as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Belarus on February 20, 2017.
