Lukashenko’s supporters accept a petition during a rally in Minsk

Patriotic supporters of the sitting Belarusian President, who gathered in Independence Square in Minsk, accepted a petition. Head of the organization “Belaya Rus” (in English – White Russia) Gennady Davidko read out the text of petition on August 16 during a rally.

“We are numerous, we are different, but we have one Belarus,” said Davidko addressing participants in the rally.

“We, the Belarusian people, made our sovereign, unconditional and unappealable choice for independence, prosperity and well-being for us and our children. But one wants to steal this victory from us, to slander and make enemy of everyone who made his honest choice. Foreign forces ignite the fire of misunderstanding and aggression, bump heads of Belarusians in order to divide and plunder everything created by hard work of our fathers and grandfathers in this chaos,” read out Davidko during the rally.

The announced petition says that Belarusian citizens will not follow the lead of instigators and liars, will not indulge street screamers and provocateurs. “We will not let one to take away the future of our country, its children and grandchildren. We, Belarusians, have been always living by our own mind, we know how to listen and understand each other, we respect different points of view,” said Davidko.

The document also expresses the position of participants towards street democracy. “We believe that street protests lead to a split in society, to the division into friends and foes. This cannot be allowed,” said the speaker.
