Ukrainian military blows up two mines at their own positions

05.08.2020, Donetsk.

The Ukrainian army violated the ceasefire twice over a day on the contact line in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), a representative of the republic at the Joint Centre for Ceasefire Control and Coordination (JCCC) stated on August 5.

The statement reads that on August 4 observers registered two explosions at 6.15 and 6.45 a.m. (Moscow time) near the settlement of Shumy, where units of the 35th Marine Brigade of the Ukrainian army were located.

Information about the violations was reported to the Ukrainian side at the JCCC in order to avoid a provocation and accusation of the DPR armed forces in the deliberate shelling.

On August 3, the JCCC observers registered three violations of ceasefire on the territory of the Donetsk People’s Republic. Zaitsevo, Dolomitnoye, Novolaspa villages came under fire. The Ukrainian military fired 1 AGS-17 grenade and used small arms.

Also, on August 3, the DPR representative office in the JCCC informed that the Ukrainian representatives in the Joint Centre stopped communicating and blocked the coordination mechanism of fire prevention. Calls made by the DPR representatives were simply ignored, while the Ukrainian troops continued provocations at combat positions.

The Ukrainian side signed the document stipulating the Measures of additional control over the ceasefire on July 22 thus declaring its commitment to observe ceasefire under the threat of disciplinary punishment to the violator, as well as a commitment not to expand or change fortifications on the contact line.
