Lawyer criticizes Dutch court’s actions in MH17 investigation

23.06.2020, Amsterdam.

The court of the Netherlands investigating the Malaysian flight crash in the Ukrainian sky has not examined key evidence, the lawyer for one of the defendants Boudewijn van Eijck said on June 22 during the court hearings.

According to the lawyer, images from a US satellite that was flying over the crash site during the incident are of great importance.

The authorities of the Netherlands sent a request to the USA to provide the images from this satellite showing the moment of the missile being launched to the airplane. However, the US authorities only communicated the contents of the images, but they refused to support their statements with the images themselves.

According to the lawyer, the Prosecutor’s Office of the Netherlands was satisfied with this US answer for some reason, and it did not demand that the original satellite images be provided. Thus, the court could not examine this evidence.
