Number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Cuba tends to decline

Three new cases of infection with coronavirus and no fatalities have been reported in Cuba for the last 24 hours, said the National Director of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Public Health (Minsap) Dr. Francisco Durand, the news agency Telesur reported on June 21.

It is also reported that since the beginning of the pandemic, 2 312 people infected with coronavirus have been registered in the Caribbean country.

According to Durand, all new cases have been detected in the country’s capital, Havana.

Referring to the reasons of the incidents increase in the western part of the country, he said that this was due not only to the behavior of the population but also to the number of foreigners, mobility and the number of cases detected. “It’s not just a matter of discipline and hygiene of the citizens, although we admit there have been violations sometimes,” he said.

Durand said that, at the moment, there are 259 patients in hospitals with COVID-19 totally, including 122 confirmed cases. At the same time, primary health care services supervise 522 patients.
