Ukrainian security operatives and special operations forces of the Ukrainian army planned and carried out the murder of the Chief of the People’s Militia Directorate of Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR) Colonel Oleg Anashchenko, the head of the Communications Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Artyom Shevchenko wrote on June 14 on the official Facebook page.

The head of the department said that the Ukrainian authorities put the blame on Oleg Anashchenko because of the IL-76 plane crash on 14 June 2014 near Lugansk airport. At that time, 40 paratroopers from Dnepropetrovsk and 9 crew members were killed.

“On February 4, 2017, in Lugansk, as a result of an operation of Ukrainian special services with the involvement of army special forces, Colonel Oleg Anashchenko, Chief of the so-called ‘LPR People’s Militia Directorate’,” wrote Artyom Shevchenko.

Special services of Ukraine are involved in many high-profile murders of unit commanders and politicians of the People’s Republics of Donbass. The murder of the head of the Donetsk Republic Oleksandr Zakharchenko on August 31, 2018 is the most known.

The Ukrainian murders are also responsible for the deaths of the commander of the Pyatnashka brigade Oleg Mamiyev (callsign Mamai) on May 17, 2018; the commander of Sparta battalion Arsen Pavlov (callsign Motorola) on October 16, 2016; the commander of Somali battalion Mikhail Tolstoy (callsign Givi) on February 8, 2017.
