The Venezuelan authorities warned the UN Security Council about a possible attack by the US military against Iranian oil tankers transporting gasoil to the Bolivarian Republic, Venezuelan Permanent Representative to the UN Samuel Moncada wrote on May 22 on his Twitter page.
Moncada reported that Venezuela had sent a letter to the UN Secretary-General about “the threat of imminent use of military force by the United States against Iranian vessels carrying Venezuelan-directed gasoline.”
On May 20, Moncada said during an online meeting of the UN Security Council that the use of military force against the Iranian tankers carrying gasoil to Venezuela is a crime against humanity.
On May 21, Venezuelan Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino warned that once the Iranian oil tankers will enter the country’s exclusive economic zone, they will be protected by the Venezuelan military’s vessels and aircraft.
