Russian Foreign Ministry comments on removal of YouTube channels of pro-Russian mass media

20.05.2020, Moscow.

The removal of Crimea 24, Anna News and News-Front YouTube channels is another act of discrimination against Russian media resources on the part of U.S. authorities, the press service of the Russian Foreign Ministry said on May 20 in a statement posted on the website of the ministry.

The statement stresses that the video hosting did not provide any convincing reasons explaining the removal of the channels. At the same time, the YouTube administration did not react to the appeal of representatives of these mass media.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation stresses that this is not the first step of discrimination against the Russian mass media on the part of U.S.-controlled internet holdings. In January 2019, Facebook removed more than 500 pages related to Russia, including materials of the Sputnik news agency. On 17 April 2020, Google blocked the Federal News Agency page and its channel on Youtube.

The channels blocked on May 20 had hundreds of thousands of subscribers and billions of views.
