China firmly condemns the latest export control measures taken by the United States against the Chinese technology giant Huawei, the Xinhua News Agency reported on May 17.
According to the PRC Ministry of Commerce, the new restrictions on purchasing Huawei semiconductors announced by the United States Department of Commerce are aimed at curbing the company’s development.
“The United States has used state power to persistently suppress and contain a specific foreign firm in the name of national security and abused export controls.”
This is a violation of market-based trading and fair competition and denial of the basic rules of the international economy and trade, as well as a serious threat to global industry and international supply chains, a spokesman for the Chinese Ministry said.
The Chinese side urged the United States side to immediately stop such actions and to create conditions for the trade development and enterprise cooperation. At the same time, China is ready to take all necessary measures to safeguard Chinese firms’ rights and interests.
