Russia and Syria accuse U.S. PR specialists of creating fake news about humanitarian convoy

13.05.2020, Damascus.

U.S. PR-specialists participated in the preparation of fake news about blocking the humanitarian convoy to the Rukban refugee camp by Russia and Syria, said in a joint statement of Russian and Syrian Staffs for the Return of Refugees on May 13.

“U.S.-backed media is actively disseminating the fake news spread by militants of the Mahavir as-Saura (organization banned in Russia) armed group from the Al-Tanf U.S. zone of occupation about the alleged blocking of humanitarian convoy to Rukban by Russia and Syria, which has already been agreed and timed to Ramadan, holy month for Muslims,” the report says.

The experts noted that the statement on the alleged blocking the humanitarian convoy was at once written in Arabic and good English. At the same time, turns of phrase characteristic for the U.S. English are used in the statement that “proves the direct participation of the U.S. specialists in the preparation of militants’ public reports”.

The Staffs said that all this is taking place against the backdrop of a “propaganda campaign to convince the international community” that the Syrian authorities are responsible for a possible worsening of the epidemiological situation in the Rukban camp.

The Staffs also noted that the U.S. goal is to continue supplying the militants under their control at the expense of the UN aid, which is sent to Rukban for refugees.
