Russian Senator assesses Kiev's statement about the Ukrainian who hoisted the Victory Banner

11.05.2020, Moscow.

Statement by Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry on the silence in the Soviet Union that, allegedly, an ethnic Ukrainian was one of the first Red Army soldiers hoisted the Victory Banner over the Reichstag, clearly shows the insanity of the Ukrainian authorities, wrote a Russian Senator Alexey Pushkov on his Twitter page on May 11.

The Senator drew attention to the fact that the pro-Bandera elite in Ukraine hates the Red Banner, considering it a symbol of the totalitarian regime. Its public display is prohibited in the country. However, even in the matter of hoisting the Victory Banner over the Reichstag, the same elite wants to show Ukrainian superiority.

“In the minds of the Ukrainian elite there is an incredible hodgepodge of Bandera, Russophobia, fawning over the West, an inferiority complex and a painful desire to be the first, even in hoisting the hated Red Banner over the Reichstag.”, wrote Pushkov.
