Kurginyan: The scale of the response is inappropriate to the scale of the pandemic

Past epidemics had a greater number of deaths, but they did not cause such a response, said the leader of the Essence of Time movement, political scientist Sergei Kurginyan on May 3 on the air of the Sunday Evening with Vladimir Solovyov TV program on Russia One channel.

“They didn’t really know anything about viruses” during the time of the Spanish flu pandemic of 1918, the deadliest in history. However, there were many pandemics since then, including relatively recent ones: Asian, Hong Kong, swine flu. There were more deaths, but no such measures were taken.

In particular, Barack Obama called the H1N1 flu pandemic (swine flu) a national catastrophe, when he was president of the US, reminded Kurginyan. “But there weren’t any of the measures that are taking place in the world now,” said the leader of the Essence of Time.

Against the backdrop of the pandemic, the US blames China for all the deadly sins, and China responds, added the political scientist. Looking at the demonization of China that is taking place, “I have to quote, or rephrase Voltaire here, when he said that if this virus did not exist, it would have to be invented,” since it gives an excuse for this kind of measures, noted Kurginyan.
