US statements on Iran’s launch of a military satellite are hypocritical, Russian Permanent Representative to International Organizations in Vienna Mikhail Ulyanov said on his Twitter page on April 26.
Ulyanov noted that after Iran had successfully launched a military satellite, US officials charged Tehran with violating UN Security Council Resolution 2231. However, the Ambassador stressed that this is a false interpretation of the resolution.
In addition, Ulyanov noted that the United States itself is undermining this resolution (for example, the withdraw from the Iran nuclear deal constitutes a violation of resolution). “Another interesting thing is that Washington is trying to build upon the very resolution that it is undermining in every possible way,” the Russian diplomat wrote.
He called the United States’ position hypocritical, which reflects Washington’s double standards.
