Cuban Foreign Ministry: We help people without seeking profits

Cuba helps 21 countries to confront coronavirus, Cuban Minister of Foreign Affairs Chancellor Bruno Rodríguez wrote on Twitter on April 23.

“Without neglecting the responsibility to its people and despite the embargo, Cuba offers modest assistance to people without seeking political and economic profits,” Rodriguez wrote.

The message informs that Cuba supports 21 countries in Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa, Europe, and in the Middle East. A total of 1238 people have been sent to help.

In eleven countries of the Caribbean region, 599 people are working, 229 and 219 people provide help in Qatar and Angola, respectively. In addition, it is noted that 90 professionals provide assistance in Italy. According to the Foreign Minister, “in the face of COVID-19, saving lives has become the priority for everyone”.

On March 22, the Cuban authorities sent a team of doctors to Italy to assist in combating the spread of coronavirus. On April 3, the Spanish government refused similar assistance.
